Atlantic City International Airport's main carrier, Spirit Airlines, declares Bankruptcy.

Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), known for its 10 daily departures primarily to Florida, has been navigating turbulent skies in recent months.

Earlier this year, Spirit Airlines announced the closure of its ACY crew base, a move that marked the beginning of a challenging period for the airport. Now, the situation appears to have worsened. On Monday, November 18, 2024, Spirit Airlines officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to court documents.

In a statement released alongside the filing, Spirit Airlines’ CEO reassured customers, saying, “You can continue to book and fly.” However, the announcement has raised concerns about the future of Spirit’s operations at ACY, where the airline’s presence plays a significant role in sustaining flight options and passenger traffic.
