Ocean City, N.J. - The Republic Bank at the busy intersection of 9th & West in Ocean City has been sold to Chase Bank.
Over the last two years, the intersection of 9th & West has experienced volatile change, with the closure of Republic Bank and the sudden closure of McDonald’s. Both properties have sat vacant during the 2026 summer season.

The Republic Bank building was permanently closed in September 2024 following Fulton Bank’s acquisition of Republic. Following the acquisition, Fulton did not move forward with operations at the Ocean City branch, which left the FDIC to assume it. Then, in 2025, the FDIC sold the building to Eclat Investments for $2 million.
At this time, it is unclear when Chase Bank intends to move into the iconic bank building.
