Ocean City is set to receive a major beach replenishment project this summer after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $19.5 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co.
The project will place more than 1.6 million cubic yards of sand on beaches along the island’s north end, an area that experienced significant erosion following multiple coastal storms in late 2025.
Work is expected to begin in early July and will focus on beaches from Seaview Road in the gardens south to 12th St. There may be temporary beach restrictions in some areas while work is underway.
Crews will dredge sand from a borrow area near the Great Egg Harbor Inlet and pump it onto the shoreline. This work will help replenish the look of our beaches during the busy summer season and protect critical infrastructure.
