Ocean City, NJ’s Historic Coral Sands Motel Is Facing Demolition

Members of the Ocean City Planning Board granted approval for the demolition and new building at the Coral Sands Motel. The site is located at at 709 East Ninth Street, and is a significant transformation for one of the towns most well-known blocks.
The proposal includes a three-story structure, featuring two floors dedicated to residential apartments and a versatile ground floor, which could be retail or a restaurant. While no specific tenants have been announced, some residents raised questions if Augie’s Omelette House would return to the location. We don’t believe that’s likely as they’ve already moved to a new, renovated location..
