Rep. Van Drew Schedules Hearing on Atlantic City Electric Price Hikes

In response to thousands of reports on excessive price hikes, Rep. Van Drew has intensified the investigation.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew has scheduled a hearing at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology for 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8.

Van Drew's hearing will gather community leaders and energy experts to investigate rising bills and review energy policy at all levels.

Rep. Van Drew has extended invitations to Atlantic City Electric, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and the New Jersey Ratepayer Advocate to participate in the hearing. A spokesperson for ACE said the company will not attend the hearing.

As the issue persists, frustrated residents have flooded Facebook and other social media platforms to voice their concerns. Groups like Victims of Atlantic City Electric have drawn over 6,000+ members in under a month.

It’s important to note that Rep. Jeff Van Drew is up for re-election next month, and he’s projected to secure another term. With this hearing, he’s positioning himself as a strong advocate for residents facing rising energy costs—a stance that could further bolster his chances at the polls.
