The location of 6th & Boardwalk has arguably been the hottest topic in town since Eustace Mita, the owner of Icona Resorts released his plans for a resort at Wonderland Pier late last year. Now, we’re directing our attention to the site right next door.
Currently, the site next to Wonderland Pier has a set of volleyball nets and that’s about it. Since last August, Councilman Keith Hartzell has pushed his vision to bring the site back to life, with a massive (est. 20,000 sqft) recreational center which would include playground amenities and more.

Councilman Keith Hartzell is extremely passionate about this project, and believes it can be complete by next summer if he is granted approval. Mr. Hartzell has also assured that this project (which could cost $500,000+) will not cost taxpayers and he will get it funded privately.

These types of playgrounds have expanded across the country over recent years, with a very similar project currently taking place in Ventnor, NJ. Mr. Hartzell also said he visited similar sites in Florida.
Many believe this project could bring a positive, family-oriented space that could help replace Wonderland Pier. If you want to share your thoughts/opinions with us, you can do so here.
